Travel Day #1 - extended. . .

So, my plane from Chicago to Seoul left on time.  However, due to the solar flares, we had to take a different route which added 2+ hours onto the already long 13.5 hour flight (ugh).  Lucky for me I was able to score a middle seat the whole way (yes, my subtle use of sarcasm).  I was able to find and connect with one of my teammats, Tom, in Chicago though.  It was nice having someone else in the same situation as me.  We ended up staying in Seoul for the night and are schedule from Seoul to Jakarta today at 3:00 p.m. (currently 11:00 a.m.).  This won't get us there in time for our security briefing, IBM tour, or team dinner - so we have some ground to make up at some point.  It was nice to sleep for a few hours in a bed and take a shower though.  I am quite alert right now, but have a 7+ hour flight ahead of me.  Better hope I get a second wind for when I meet the rest of the team tonight!

Travel Day #1

Well, I was PLENTY early for my flight this morning (or should I say last night).  If you don't know, the Rochester, MN airport is really small and I love flying in to and out of it.  However, I've never flown international from it before and my parents freaked me out about making sure I was early enough, etc.  So, I thought I'd get here about two hours early.  Left my house at 4:30 a.m.  Got to airport at 4:55 a.m.  Was check in, through security, and at my gate by 5:05 a.m. (flight leaves at 6:55 a.m.).  I think it would have been faster, but I had to WAIT for the security line to open up!  I was the very first person going through security today.  Gave me some time to get a few last minute work items wrapped up.  My next post will be coming from the other side of the world!

Last Day Home

Today is my last day home before I leave on my adventure - I just wish it didn't start with a 6:00 a.m. conference call!  If the call wasn't the last one with my Corporate Service Corps team, I probably wouldn't be taking it.  My to do list is slowly shrinking, but I wish it was completely done.  I'm starting to think that there will be things that I will not get done - even if I pull an all-nighter!  I'm keeping my son home from daycare today for some quality bonding time before I leave.  I don't think he understands that I'll be gone for a whole month as his concept of time is in "today/tomorrow."  Good thing we've got some activities planned with grandparents!  He'll have a great time and will be a nice little break from the single-parent life my husband will be having for the next month.
